How To Cook Frozen Turkey In Instant Pot
I know a lot of us had smaller Thanksgiving dinners
this year with all the craziness going on with the virus and the minimized gatherings and not so many people, yadda yadda yadda, right?

I decided I was going to try to just cook a frozen turkey breast instead of doing the whole turkey. The one I chose actually does go in the oven in a little bag if I wanted to cook it that way. I’m not really a fan of cooking it in the plastic bag, but more than that, I really love to use Instant Pot any chance I get.
Here’s the Instant Pot that I have:
Some of the frozen turkeys come with a gravy packet, so you want to make sure you remove that before putting it into your Instant Pot. If it’s frozen in the middle, just run a little water on it until it loosens enough to remove it. (Make sure you sanitize your sink after.)
I was inspired by Six Sisters’ Stuff and she suggested to actually take the inner pot of your Instant Pot to the store and put the turkey in to make sure it fits before you buy it.
Now to prepare your turkey! Use a quarter cup or less of butter depending on the size of your turkey and slather it all over the top along with any seasonings you like. Dairy-free butter works nicely here. I use Country Crock Plant Butter sticks. They’re great for baking also.
Next step, pour some chicken broth (or any broth you prefer) into the bottom of the Instant Pot. Don’t pour over the turkey and rinse off everything you just put on it. You need liquid at the bottom to give the Instant Pot the ability to pressurize.
Set your Instant Pot to high pressure (manual button). Here’s a chart to help you determine cooking time based on the size of your turkey.
3-4 lbs: 65 min
4-5 lbs: 70 min
5-6 lbs: 75 min
6-7 lbs: 80 min
7-8 lbs: 85 min
8-9 lbs: 90 min
9-10 lbs: 95 min
10-11 lbs: 100 min

Push start. My Instant Pot doesn’t require me to push start. I just wait a few seconds and it will beep to signal the start time.
Once the timer goes off, letting you know it’s done, gently release the steam for 20 minutes. Basically, just leave it to sit for 20 minutes after the end timer goes off.
Open Instant Pot and enjoy!
What a great way to cook frozen turkey breast in about an hour!
