An Intro to ASMR

If there's one thing that we can all agree on, it's that the world can be a noisy and chaotic place. ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. It's a feeling of 'low-grade euphoria' triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, often characterized as a pleasurable 'tingling' sensation. Basically, it's a feeling of complete relaxation and tranquility, and it's what ASMR is all about.

With that being said, I didn’t start off by watching ASMR and falling immediately in LOVE with it. This is about being real here. I saw it and thought, “What is this?!?” It was more out of curiosity than anything else, but before I knew it, I was finding triggers or comforting sounds that put me in a state of calm and allowed me to really relax. It became a way to escape anxiety and stress. So I kept watching.

Watching ASMR transitioned into feeling like I wanted to try putting myself out there and do ASMR, too. Throughout my self-love journey, I practiced looking at the things I had always critized myself for and instead seeing them as a strength or a gift. I discovered that I had a naturally calming personality/presence.

I truly believe in the power of positive vibes. I found my ASMR style was a gentle approach to triggers, which helps promote relaxation and reduce stress.
